Sit Stay Play Michigan offers basic life skills for the family dog, using positive training methods. We use clicker training to teach YOU to teach your dog.
Class sessions meet once a week for 6 weeks. New sessions begin every 6 - 7 weeks.
Private lessons available at an hourly rate of $85. Private lessons are given at Sit Stay Play Michigan Facility.
Classes offered:
Basic Puppy Classes: For puppies UNDER 7 months of age. Basic obedience cues and manners are taught in this class, as well as simple husbandry and games to improve your relationship with your dog and strengthen their obedience skills.
Young Puppies Class: For puppies 16 weeks and under on first day of class. This class is the same as the other basic classes, but will only accept puppies under 16 weeks old.
Beyond Basics: This class is for puppies or dogs who have graduated from the Basic Puppy Class or Basic Adult Dog class. In this class we continue to work on the basic skills, and add a few new skills.
Urban Excursion Class: This class is offered during months of reasonable weather to be outdoors. This class is for dogs who have graduated a Basic class and the Beyond Basics class. It is held in downtown Midland. We work on all of the skills they have learned in the previous classes in real world situations, and add a few new skills. The dogs will be exposed to children and adults running and walking, skateboards, rollerblades, bikes, crosswalks, busy areas, bridges and statues.
AKC Canine Good Citizen Class - This class practices the 10 skills needed to pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test. Dogs must have passed at least the Basic Puppy or Adult Dog class to take this class. The skills will be PRACTICED and refined, not taught in this class. Dogs must be at least 6 months old, and have a good grasp of sit, down, recall, greeting people, stay, and being left with a friendly stranger for a short time while pet guardian leaves the room.
Drop In Class: This class is for dogs who have graduated from a Basic Class AND the Beyond Basics Class. This class is for clients who wish to keep working with their dogs beyond the Beyond Basics class. Each week is different and the skills worked on depends on the dogs who are there each week. We work on Canine Good Citizen Test skills, tricks, mat training, leash walking, stay, working close to other dogs and greeting people and other dogs. Clients are given a punch cards with 7 punches and have up to 6 months to use the punches. Clients do not need to attend this class every week. Punch cards can be renewed at any time. RSVP is required for each week's attendance.
Group Walks - We meet weekly for group walks. Dogs must be a graduate of a basic class, or currently enrolled in a class to participate. There is NO INSTRUCTION during group walks - they are for social experience and loose leash walking practice and are free of charge.
Play Dates - Play dates are scheduled throughout the week for clients who wish to participate. Playmates are matched by size, age and play style. Dogs must be friendly with other dogs. Play Dates are held outside in warm / dry months. Some play dates include swimming or water play at owner request. Play dates are $10 per dog for a 1 hour play session. Owners must remain with their dog during play dates.
